What is a Shared Detector?
A Shared Detector in RADAR enables Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to use a single detector device across multiple customer environments within a multi-tenant deployment. Instead of provisioning and maintaining a dedicated detector for each tenant, the Shared Detector provides a centralized detection point while upholding strict data isolation between all customer environments.
This capability significantly reduces hardware and operational overhead and enhances deployment efficiency across all managed tenants. The Shared Detector architecture ensures that each tenant continues to receive fully isolated simulation results, analytics, and reporting while maintaining compliance. At the same time, MSSPs and ISPs benefit from simplified infrastructure management and improved scalability without compromising data segregation or security posture.
How it is Deployed?
At the infrastructure level, the centralized detector connects to each assigned tenant's environment through dedicated network interfaces configured as mirror ports. Mirrored traffic from each tenant's environment is directed to the shared detector, allowing it to run simulations and diagnostics against that tenant's specific environment without disrupting live traffic.
What You'll Learn On This Page
In this section, you’ll learn how to add a Shared Detector to your multi-tenant RADAR environment. You’ll understand how to assign the Shared Detector to one or more customer environments, how data segregation is maintained, and how this approach streamlines deployment for MSSP operations. These guidelines will help you configure the Shared Detector correctly and ensure secure, efficient traffic detection across all managed tenants.
Creating a Shared Detector
Follow these steps to add a Shared Detector in the RADAR platform:
- In the left-hand navigation menu, click Tenants.
- Select Shared Detectors.
Complete the Shared Detector Configuration
Click the Add Shared Detector button.
The event creation wizard includes 2 configuration steps:
1 - Details
2 - Allocate
Each step is explained in detail below.
Step 1: Details

This tab displays the Shared Detector’s basic information and allows you to optionally add a description to help further identify the detector.
Fill in the required details:
- Detector Name
- Region
- Country
- Detector Description (Optional)
Then click Next.
Step 2: Allocate

On this tab, select the tenants and their environments that will be assigned to the Shared Detector.
Then click Create.
After assigning the Shared Detector settings, you will find five available action buttons on the right side of the Shared Detector row.
Below is an explanation of how each button is used:
-
Network Interface:
Clicking this button redirects you to the tenant’s Network Interfaces page, where you can view all network interfaces configured with the Shared Detector.

-
Installation:
Clicking this button redirects you to the Installation Center page, where you can access the following resources:
- Installation Guide (including instructions for installing a Detector)
-
RADAR ISO (Click here to download RADAR ISO)
-
API Key

-
Active Environment:
Clicking this button opens a window that allows you to activate the Shared Detector for a specific environment.
Under the Company dropdown, select the tenant for which you want to enable the Shared Detector.Under the Environment dropdown, choose the environment where the Shared Detector should be activated. Finally, click Save to apply the configuration.

-
Edit:
Clicking this button opens the Shared Detector Settings window, where you can modify the Shared Detector details and reassign the detector to the appropriate tenant environments.

-
Delete:
Clicking this button permanently deletes the Shared Detector and removes it from all the assigned tenant envoriments.
